I’m English, married and wish I could resist the urge to put flippant non-sequiturs into anything I try and write about myself. Since leaving university the first time round I’ve drooled my way through dead-end jobs in bookshops, call centres, post-rooms and factories. I’ve also had two almost-careers, one in advertising and the other in academia. I have chosen, hopefully not without reason, to suspend both of these for the time being because I've realised that I'm too lazy to do two things at once, where one is trying to write and the other is having a job for grown-ups. I currently live in São Paulo with my wife and two kids, an imaginary cat and the presenters of the Radio 4 programme, Front Row.
