each/other

each senses other by fingers soft as shadow,

how other lies and other breathes,

and how the pair walk in and out

of each other’s dreams, always subliminally

tuning themselves to the secret between them,

folded away, dreaming rhododendron head.

other wakes and sees moons fall while each dreams

of empyrean spheres ascending in order

above the unturning point of their marriage bed.

so they remain all night, folded close as petals,

a circuit of limbs whose current is touch.

if ever it breaks, it seems instantly rejoined

as if their cores were two halves of a water clock

which fills with its own emptiness until it compels

each to fall towards other again.
