Photoset: Beco do Aprendiz
Most visitors to São Paulo go to the Beco de Batman, a graffiti hub in the Vila Madalena neighbourhood. A lot of them miss Beco do Aprendiz, which is located close-by but is a lot harder to find. As you can see, however, it's well worth the effort. -
Oasis Collections
Oasis Collections manages a portfolio of high-end short-term rentals and private members' clubs throughout South America. Twice winners of Condé Nast's Top Villa Rental Agents, they've been featured in BlackBook and Wallpaper*. I've been writing for them since July 2013. -
Time Out São Paulo
In addition to working there as a Contributing Editor, I recently authored several pieces for Time Out São Paulo. -
M&C Saatchi
I've helped M&C Saatchi's new Latin American office with several recent projects, including work for the pharmaceutical, education and charity sectors. Clients include Pfizer and St. Paul's School, Brazil. -
The John Lewis Partnership
Developed in 2009, this remains the copywriting project of which I'm most proud. It really seems to capture in its voice and aesthetic what makes the JLP so important within the UK's cultural landscape. Starting life as a pitch (where JLP's executive team told us i articulated their USP more effectively in one sitting than many agencies ever manage), it subsequently evolved into numerous offline iterations and this rather lovely website: http://www.waitrosejobs.com -
Local Government
Hampered by small budgets and rapid turnaround times, producing work for local government clients always demands a lot from creative - and yet sometimes the results are surprisingly decent. -
Central Government
Working for the police and shady government agencies should have appalled a lefty liberal like me (and I did manage, in a moment of indiscretion, to trigger a company-wide security check), but I'm afraid to say the tricky nature of the briefs appealed to my inner secret agent. -
Private Sector
I've previously done campaigns for FMCGs (Unilever, Nestlé, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, John Lewis Partnership), professional services (Accenture, Hill Dickinson, Dresdner-Kleinwort, Mercer) and blue-chip technology firms (Microsoft). Here's a sample of some of that work.
